Sumter South Carolina

Sumter is a city in South Carolina and the county seat of Sumter County. It is the central city of the Sumter Metropolitan Statistical Area. Sumter County, along with Clarendon and Lee counties, forms the Sumter-Lee-Clarendon tri-county area in the east-central Piedmont region of the state. The population was 39,643 in the 2000 census and grew to 40,524 by the 2010 census.
